Quickstart: connect a channel and send a post

Create an account, connect a channel and send your first post, in the app or from the API.

Updated

This takes a few minutes. You need an account, one channel to post to, and something to say.

In the app

  1. Create an account at omniposts.dev/app/signup with your email and a password.
  2. Connect a channel. Open Channels and choose a platform. Each page under Channels says what that platform asks for: Bluesky wants an app password you create in its settings, Mastodon sends you to your own server to sign in, and so on.
  3. Write a post. Choose New post, type your text, and tick the channels it should go to. Each channel shows a preview with its own character limit. Change the text for one channel without touching the others.
  4. Send it. Pick one of three ways: Post now, Schedule for later (a date and time), or Add to queue (the next free time in your weekly list, see Calendar and queue).
  5. Check the result. Open Inbox. Every post shows one result per channel: posted (with a link), failed (with the reason and one button to fix it), or being checked.

From the API

You can do the same over HTTP. The API is part of every plan.

  1. In the app, open Settings, then Agents & API, and create an API key. Copy it when it is shown: it is displayed once. Keys start with omniposts_.
  2. List your channels to find a channel id:
curl https://omniposts.dev/v1/channels \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer omniposts_..."
  1. Send a post to it. The Idempotency-Key makes a retry safe: the same request twice is one post.
curl https://omniposts.dev/v1/groups \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer omniposts_..." \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: my-first-post" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"body": "Hello from the API.", "targets": [{"channelId": "CHANNEL_ID"}]}'

The response lists a result for every channel you named. From here, read Authentication, Posts and Errors.

What next

  • Posts and results: why a post is never sent twice, and what each status means.
  • Use the queue: set your weekly posting times once.
  • Plans: what Free includes, and the beta plans.
